The cost of paintless dent repair depends on the size of the dent, the ease of access for our tools, and the amount of dents on your car. Average price for a standard door ding starts at $100. Package deals are available for multiple dents.
The types of repairable dents can vary in size, from small, barely visible dents to large, shopping cart dents. Generally, the dent should have no paint damage and no sharp creases. Ease of access (how easily we can get our tools behind the dent) is also very important. Aluminum panels tend to be more difficult and will take more time to repair.
Many small door dings can be repaired in 30-45 minutes. The primary factor is ease of access. Some larger dents can take an hour or more.
PDR works on all makes and models.
Paintless dent repair was first described in 1931 by Frank T. Sargent, who published 'The Key To Metal Bumping'. This book detailed how to do PDR, what tools to use, and even provided illustrations.
PDR was later popularized by Oskar Flaig, who worked as a foreman for Mercedes-Benz in Germany, and was responsible for starting the first PDR training programs at all of the branch plants. Juergan Holzer later brought these techniques to America in 1979 when he started Dent Kraft, the first PDR business in the US.
